Existen algunos lugares en el mundo fotografiado de Google, en los que se puede hacer un zoom muy muy potente. Tan solo hay que escribir las coordenadas adecuadas en la barra de búsqueda , hacer un zoom con la rueda del ratón y voila!

Una vegada instal·lat per fer-ho funcionar correctament només has d'introduir les quatre coordenades que limitaran el mapa, escrivint la longitud i latitud límits del mapa que vols descarregar, així com el zoom si és el cas i si el que desitges conservar és el mapa típic, la foto del satèl·lit o els dos.

El programa després de la seva instal·lació consta a més de l'executable (gmd.exe) de dos arxius mapviewer.exe / combine.exe el primer d'ells serveix per veure els mapes sense canviar-los el format i combine.exe el converteix en una imatge .bmp

Existeixen dues versions: la gratuïta amb limitació a "6" del zoom i la versió sense limitacions que és de pagament.

Yes, it is Friday once again, and you all know what that means....time to scour the web for some terrific resources and tools to make our homeschool moments more techie, and (at least IMHO) lots more fun. 

Don't know if you have been following this year's hurricane season, but as always, it has been an interesting one.  And unless you are lucky enough to live way west of the Mississippi, then you may be one of us who has to put up with the unwelcome visits of our enemies from the warm oceans to the east this time of year.  My state, North Carolina, is looking at a possible hit from Hanna in the next few days.

Anyway, these hurricanes have got me thinking about weather, and there are so many cool weather sites and resources out there, that I just had to list some of my favorites for you in this edition of FHHH.  What's the weather where you are today??

• First of all...for anyone who has ever wanted to know or refresh their memory on how a hurricane forms, you MUST check out this fun video song at LearningGamesForKids.com....THE HURRICANE SONG
• Dan's Wild, Wild Weather Page - This is a wonderful interactive overall weather site.  Dan is a meteorologist in Huntsville, AL, and has put together quite a collection of facts, games, quizzes, teacher resources, and some incredible pictures.  This is a terrific starting place for doing any weather research.
• Sesame Street: Weather - Wonderful list of Sesame Street weather videos for the littlest learners.  I wish I had more time to peruse this one.  Life can be cruel like that sometimes.
• The Weather Doctor - Weather almanac, current articles, and endless information on how to connect weather to all curriculum subjects, and how to become an active weather watcher.
• I can't overlook the National Weather Service.  When I get weather-obsessed (yes, I consider myself to be a closet meteorologist), this is my first go-to site for current info and news.  They always have really current updates on all the hurricanes, as well.
• Edheads Weather Activity - I LOVE interactive web activities that teach and entertain at the same time.  This is a really great one that teaches about weather prediction
• If you use Google Earth (please tell me you use Google Earth people!), then this is a really cool layer add-on called Weather Bonk, that lets you see temperatures and radars overlayed on your display
• If you are like me, I always get confused about El Niño and La Niña, and how they affect our current weather patterns.  This Climate Prediction Center FAQ helps clear up the confusion in an interactive way.
• Weather Forecasting Learning Module - if you are doing a middle school/high school unit study on weather, this learning module can provide an easy outline for your unit.  Some topics explored are climate classification, making the forecast, and significance of weather.
• Weather Charts - am I the only one who thinks weather charts are the coolest?  This site even lets you download software to plot your own weather charts
• Kid Meteorologist - Great video from PBS Zoom, with explanation on the career and study of meteorology
• US Drought Monitor - unfortunately, this one hits way too close to home; an interactive map of current drought conditions throughout the US.  My area of the state is in the D4 region - - the highest level of drought.  Sigh.
• Let's Learn About Temperature & Weather - this terrific software for kids ages 6-12 is over 60% off at Amazon!!  Use my link, please, to buy, so Amazon can give me the affiliate thanks I so richly deserve!

Nuestro protagonista podrá llevar a cabo diversas acciones. Dejando pulsado el botón X entraremos en un modo similar a la visión nocturna con el que nos resultará mas fácil saber dentro de que edificios se encuentran los supervivientes. Con el triángulo correremos, con R1 y R2 aumentamos o disminuimos el zoom de la vista y con el joistick derecho podremos mirar a nuestro alrededor. También tendremos a nuestro alcance algunas técnicas avanzadas, como por ejemplo rodear un edificio con nuestra cola de supervivientes para hacernos con el total de personas que lo habitan. Iremos encontrando items que servirán para reponer nuestra energía o incluso para paralizar a los zombies por unos momentos.

Se trata de un juego simpático, se hace bastante entretenido manejar a nuestro protagonista seguido de una multitudinaria cola a la que tendremos que mantener a salvo de los zombies y demás amenazas. El apartado técnico no está mal para un título independiente de la store. Escenarios que por un momento recuerdan a Google Earth y personajes que me han hecho recordar los dos primeros GTA. El apartado sonoro cumple, con gritos de desesperación por parte de los supervivientes y música electrónica agobiante. Sin duda una propuesta interesante mas recomendada a los frikis de los zombies. De momento la demo es entretenida, no obstante mi bolsillo tendrá que esperar para desembolsar esos casi ocho euros.

Only a decade ago, google was simply an internet search engine. Now thanks to its web applications such as the recently released Google Chrome, the company is well on its way to owning every aspect of your online life. Not that I mind, especially considering the fun one has with webapps like Google Earth which continually throw up surprises.

The UK Telegraph has posted a story about how Google Earth has uncovered a tribute to Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin made from Siberian trees that were strategically cut to leave the message "Lenin is 100".

The message, which translates as "Lenin is 100", was cut into a forest in a remote region of Siberia. Each letter is around 80 metres high, and the entire message stretches for 600 metres.

It was created by Russian woodcutters in 1970 to mark the centenary of the Communist leader's birth, according to EnglishRussia, the blog which spotted the image.

Despite the passing of 38 years it has kept its coherent shape, and is now clearly visible on Google Maps and Earth, the internet giant's satellite mapping services.

The blog says that the reasons for the large scale topiary are unclear, but that it could have been intended as a tongue-in-cheek message of national pride to be picked up by American spy satellites.

The tribute was cut into a forest close to the town of Zverinogolovskoye in the south west of Siberia, near the border with Kazakhstan.

It seems that Google can't eat its own dog food: Google Earth Browser Plugin currently doesn't work with Chrome.

En este pasaje vemos cual fue su estado original. Su clase angelical era la de un querubín, y no uno cualquiera sino uno grande; era llamado protector y vivía en el monte de Dios. Era perfecto en todos sus caminos desde que fue creado. Además era el encargado de la adoración celestial.

Pero algo pasó en él que provocó su caída, el orgullo entró en su vida.

Debido a su belleza y perfección se llenó de orgullo quiso derrocar a Dios y tomar su lugar. “Tú que decías en tu corazón: Subiré al cielo; en lo alto, junto a las estrellas de Dios, levantaré mi trono, y en el monte del testimonio me sentaré, a los lados del norte; sobre las alturas de las nubes subiré, y seré semejante al Altísimo.” (Isaías 14:13-14).

Our heart felt thanks go out to the folks in Mountain View.  Dave Barth posted yesterday over at Google Lat Long Blog to let us know that new data is now available for Georgia.  The was a minor brouhaha a few weeks back when it was noticed that there was no data for Georgia.  Dave quickly responded that they're working on it and now, a little over two weeks later, there is a slew of new layer material.  There was a small spurt of data shortly after the very vocal uprising but now they've gone and added Panoramio images along with other data sets.

Thanks to Dave and the team and now we just have to ask one question: When are you posting the new Bihar imagery?

MSF has reached the flood affected regions in Bihar state and reports back from the frontlines:

An emergency relief team from the humanitarian aid agency, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has reached the areas worst affected by the flooding in Bihar State, India. The team, including a logistician, a water-sanitation engineer and a medical doctor, are assessing the extent of the humanitarian needs in Araria and Purnea-Madhepura. The team has also brought supplies of non-food items for distribution to the affected population.

Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin on September 7th 1998. The two students from Stanford University started Google with just 100,000 dollars. And over the past 10 years they have built it in to a multi billion dollar corporation. August 19th Google went on the stock exchange, making it worth 23 billion dollars. Today it is worth an outstanding 179,07 billion US dollars.

So how does Google make money? It sell advertisements associated with search keywords. Say for example you type in the word car, it will find links for you. If you look to right after you have done a search you will see the payed links, or ads. But Google doesn´t just make money with these links, Google owns many other internet sites and applications. Google make money from normal ads here as well.

So how does the search engine work? Well, when you type in your keyword its find web pages that have that word in them. After it has found them it has to rank them. The pages are ordered by what the search engine thinks is most relevant. But how does it think?. The entire Google search engine is basically just a bunch of algorithms. Mathematics put in a sequence to make instructions. For example, when ranking the algorithms look at how many ingoing links every page has. The more incoming links a page has there more relevant i becomes. But i doesn´t stop there. The incoming links to the incoming are also counted. This goes on and on. Thats the simple version.

Did you mean: .......   Is something that often pops up when using Google. It is a kind of spelling corrector. On online dictionary. Lets says you spell your keyword wrong, Google comes up with it believes you are looking for. This is a very helpful service that Google provides. I used it many times myself while writing this post. But have you ever wounded how the search engine knows what you meant?
